Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Julia Berolzheimer and I live in Charleston, South Carolina with my husband Thomas and two daughters, Clementine and Marigold. I launched my website JuliaBerolzheimer.com (previously Gal Meets Glam) over 12 years ago and have a lifestyle brand, Parterre, that I run with my dear friend Hanna Seabrook.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
My tastes and aesthetic are constantly changing and growing. Right now I am very inspired and drawn to complex layers, texture, lots of color and things that feel happy.
Where do you draw inspiration from for your home?
I draw inspiration from all over- fashion, travel, following creative people online, reading, and seeking out things that excite me.
What is your most favorite space in your home?
I love our downstairs kitchen/family room/outdoor courtyard because it really feels like one big indoor-outdoor space. One of the reasons we fell in love with Charleston is the beautiful weather, and with all of our natural windows and light, we get to enjoy the sunshine year round!
We hear you’ve been a fan of the brand for a while, when did you first hear about the brand?
I can’t quite remember where I first heard of the brand, but I think it was on Instagram. I had never seen anyone make more unique and aesthetically appealing beach gear and I was sold!
What inspired this collection with Business & Pleasure Co.?
The collection was really inspired by our own outdoor space. I wanted to create pieces that I personally would keep by my poolside or courtyard or porch. I wanted it to feel special and unique, but easy to style amongst the things you already own.
What drove you to partner with Business & Pleasure Co.?
I have been a huge fan of the brand for years. As a customer, I’ve bought umbrellas, chairs, coolers- you name it! So when the idea was proposed, I was incredibly excited. It only grew when I saw the amazing products that you all were launching for spring/summer of this year. The expansion of goods, especially for pool and home, is such a fit with our lifestyle, so I could naturally see it all come together. It was such a seamless partnership and experience.
What inspired the prints & colors of this collection?
The idea of a tile print came after our trip to Portugal last summer, and the floral print is really an extension of our JB logo. We knew we wanted it in our signature sage green- it’s a color we have so much of in our own backyard, and is so easy to style other colors with.
We started out as a beach goods brand, of course we must ask what is your favorite beach to enjoy in South Carolina?
Our go-to beach is Sullivan’s Island and we are beyond lucky to have it just mere minutes away from us!
Any favorites from the collection?
I really love how all of the floral tile printed pieces came out and the fabric that the print is woven into is incredible!
